Roberto Di Matteo looks certain to be confirmed as Chelsea manager
With bookmakers seemingly shutting the door on further bets on the next Chelsea boss, it seems almost certain that current stand in manager Roberto Di Matteo will be offered the job on a permanent basis. The decision comes after the former Chelsea midfielder helped guide his squad to lift the FA Cup following a narrow victory over Liverpool at Wembley, while Chelsea also secured their Champions League future for the coming season following their penalty shootout final victory over Bayern Munich in Germany back in May. The victory over Bayern was no doubt a massive boost for Roman Abramovich in his bid to attract top European talent in the summer transfer window and Chelsea look set to add to their current signings of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin before the window shuts.
The interim manager”s future at Stamford Bridge remained uncertain for much of last month, after news that Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola was taking a sabbatical as the Catalan club coach, and rumours persisted that Abramovich was trying desperately to secure a deal to bring the Barcelona coach to Chelsea. However, Di Matteo looks set to be offered a two-year deal which puts to bed the idea of Pep Guardiola taking over in a years time.
It seems that the Chelsea players are behind Di Matteo, with players such as Frank Lampard singing his praises following the departure of Andre Villas-Boas earlier in the season. But is Di Matteo the right man to take charge of Chelsea full time? We want to hear what you, the fans think, so please have your say below and we’ll be accepting as may comments as possible.
