We’re approaching the end of August and the Premier League 2012/13 season is underway, which means only one thing. We’re closing in on transfer deadline day. The Summer transfer window closes at 2300 hours BST on 31st August and means that Premier League managers will be busier than ever this week trying to safeguard their jobs and their club’s season’s with some last minute signings.

The latest transfer gossip with 10 days left before Summer transfer deadline day is as follows:

Sports website talkSPORT are reporting that Italian club Fiorentina are about to end Dimitar Berbatov’s Manchester United nightmare with a £3.2million move for the Bulgarian striker in the next few days. With United bolstering their squad with the signing of Arsenal’s Robin van Persie, Berbatov is well down the pecking order at Old Trafford, although did feature on their bench against Everton, ahead of Javier Hernandez, who was left out of the squad completely.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Manchester City are about to sign Swansea winger Scott Sinclair for £5million. Sinclair looks set to follow Joe Allen (Liverpool) out of the exit door at the Welsh club according to Swansea coach Alan Curtis. Sinclair has scored 35 times for Swansea, and scored after coming off the bench in their opening game of the season against QPR, in a match they won 5-0. The 23 year-old will be City’s second signing of the summer if the deal goes through, joining former Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell at the Etihad.

Meanwhile, QPR are lining up a £7million bid for out-of-favour Spurs defender Michael Dawson according to various reports. Dawson, 28, is seen as an experienced defender who could help sure up the Queens Park Rangers defence following their opening day hammering against Swansea. Mark Hughes is also believed to be monitoring Barcelona’s Andreu Fontas and Saint Etienne’s Kurt Zouma as backup in case the Dawson deal doesn’t go through.

Finally, Manchester United have signed Dutch defender Alexander Büttner from Vitesse Arnhem. The 23 year-old left back, who can also play right back, has passed a medical and agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford club and put pen to paper on a five year deal. Dutchman Büttner made 119 appearances for Vitesse Arnhem and was in Holland’s provisional squad for Euro 2012, although didn’t feature in their final squad this Summer.
